Every child is familiar with McDonald’s. Most are lucky to have a location
conveniently within five or ten minutes of their residences. They are all drawn in by the appeal to happy
meals, gender-related toys, Ronald McDonald interaction, and the renowned,
extremely sanitary and well-kept play areas.
However, children are surely not the
only targets for McDonald's advertisement and sales. Adults are hypnotized just as easily by the
cheap prices, speedy preparation, convenience, and satisfaction of their children. Often, they find themselves consuming
McDonald's every time they bring their children for lunch because it tastes
good, and it's easy for a family to eat all at one location.
This particular set of ads is
portraying how adults are robots of McDonald's.
Through advertisement, McDonald's has convinced customers that their
coffee is the key ingredient for success on a work day, even with extreme lack
of sleep and motivation. What the author
demonstrates is that McDonald's coffee "winds you up" for a short while,
only for you to "crash" twice as hard a few hours in to the day. Still, adults continue to put their faith
into this brand because sleep is not an option anymore. They will forever be toys McDonald’s continue
to wind up over and over again.
